No. 86 - Findings from the Rhine-Main region . Common species of deciduous trees - mostly wood - but not very often. Datronia mollis is a reflex to effuse respinat growing, Porling who likes to grow on the side and underside of hardwood logs with bark and then 3 - 30 cm (occasionally even larger) can form large deposits. The species is striking.
side is growing, they narrow, only a few mm to 2 cm protruding, dark-zoned Hutkanten which are on top at first light colored felt-and nut-brown, with age, but dark brown to almost blackish be and then bring commended.
striking and an important distinction is the large, light gray, about 1 - 2 mm measured by pores. They are thick-walled, round, square or slightly labyrinthine and lateral growing fruiting bodies and conspicuous longitudinal slits.
The Fruchkörper are tough and hard, but flexible and can be easily detached from the substrate. The Trama, including those of the tubes is brown. Hutkanten are available can be seen between Hutfilz Trama and a thin, dark line; another typical recognition. The genus Datronia which is in Germany so far represented only 2 species, Weißfäuleerreger contains Trimite Hyphensystem and grows only on dead wood. It is close to the genus Antrodia.
D. mollis addition there is the very rare Datronia steroids, which has much smaller pores and has so far proven difficult. A confusion is with other Porling hardly possible and with maximum resupinaten, young fruit bodies of Coriolopsis gallica, the brown Borstentramete possible, as this also has relatively large pores. The Borstentrameten form but larger and thicker, on the shaggy-haired Hutoberfläche hats.
Datronia mollis grows in the Rhine-Main region in various hardwoods, including willow, birch, maple and alder. Preferred tree is and remains - with about 80% - the red beech. The pictures shown here were taken in August 2009 and January 2011 - but each on a dead willow and a Norway maple stem - in the Frankfurt city and photographed in Frankfurt Niedwald.
